Territory: Paris, TN

Mortgage Banking Assistant

Summary:

Responsible for assisting the Mortgage Banker and Mortgage Processor in the day to day activities required to advance borrower applications, process loans, assist customers, and coordinate marketing. Provide initial due diligence to properly verify documentation, program eligibility and file quality for submission to processing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Processing loans:
    • Review & update client/ loan information into Encompass to ensure accuracy.
    • Ordering/following up on initial 3rd party documentation such as work number VOEs, title work, credit updates, insurance, govt/state loan registration, income and asset verifications.
    • Validating AUS findings and/or GSE investor guidelines
    • Investigating and resolving any file data inconsistencies
    • Confirm CRA/FFIEC eligibility
    • Communicate with clients on loan stipulations and missing documents
    • Marketing:
      • Assist in the development a client database
      • Manage database to send out mortgage updates, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.,
      • Assist with events in the community
    • Customer Service:
      • Responsible for fostering the FirstBank Experience
    • Adhere to FirstBank Policy and Procedures taking responsibility for compliance with bank policies, procedures, and operational integrity.

Standard:

  • Counseling and pre-qualifying potential home buyers
  • Obtaining all necessary support documents
  • Complete all paperwork in a timely manner
  • Serve as the borrower’s advocate and main contact during the processing, underwriting, committing, and closing process

Standard:

  • No findings from internal audit
  • Must meet all required training
  • No CIP violations
  • No compliance violations

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent mandatory
  • 3+ years of working in a business environment
  • 3+ years of loan origination or processing experience preferred

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and general public.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Ability to work independently with good project management skills and ability to adjust to ever changing environment.
