Job Title: Mortgage Compliance Specialist I
Department: Compliance
Reports To: Mortgage Compliance Officer
FLSA Status: Exempt
Summary:
The Mortgage Compliance Specialist I performs self-monitoring functions related to the mortgage compliance management system and internal controls for mortgage compliance. Prepares and maintains organized compilation reports as directed by the Director of Compliance and / or the Board of Directors. Reviews audit findings, recommendations and corrective actions with the Mortgage Compliance Officer. Additionally, may assist in operational compliance during the planning and implementation of procedures of products, services and programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Operational Duties:
Self – monitoring of:
Regulatory compliance with consumer protection laws
Reviews policies and procedures to ensure compliance is maintained in accordance with regulations.
Assists others who may be a SME (subject matter expert) in other areas (i.e. bank advertising, flood, HMDA/CRA, Fair Lending, etc.)
Assures a positive working relationship is developed and maintained with auditors / examiners
Serves as technical resource involving regulatory compliance, including operations compliance
Reporting: (Adjusts to a risk-based approach as assigned by Compliance Director)
Monthly and quarterly reports:
Compilation of quarterly Board reports
Coordinate/maintain regulatory logs
Customer Service – Responsible for fostering the FirstBank Experience to our internal customers, FirstBank associates.
Standards and Training:
Maintain required training in a self-paced environment
Maintain additional off-site training as required
Adhere to Policy and Procedures - Responsible for all compliance with bank policies, procedures, and operational integrity.
Standard:
No findings from internal audit
Must meet all required training
No compliance violations
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
3+ years of experience in financial institution environment
1+ years of experience in compliance preferred
High School Diploma or GED required
Some college credits preferred
Banking certifications a plus, but not required
Knowledge in the following regulations preferred: (RESPA, TIL, REG CC, REG AA, REG E, Gramm Leach Bliley, REG GG, REG D, Advertising Rules, FDIC insurance, REG DD)
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers and general bank population.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a time sensitive environment. Must be detail oriented and organized.
