Mortgage Training Specialist

Territory: Franklin, TN

The Mortgage Training Specialist is responsible for design, development and execution of FirstBank Mortgage’s training program. Goals of this position include improving training effectiveness by developing new approaches and techniques for all lines of business and support departments to meet the needs of new hires and existing employees.


Job Duties:

Create an environment that stimulates learning and skill development.

Work closely with the Product Development Team Lead to understand, and be prepared to train on any new or revised products/programs. Remain current and familiar with all approved Investor programs, policies, and guidelines to assist in training needs.

Conduct comprehensive needs analysis to ensure that corporate training fulfills the needs and objectives of all departments within the mortgage division.

Provide feedback to managers regarding the effectiveness and success of the various training programs and provide recommendations on corporate training solutions.

Work with Managers to develop and conduct training sessions related to department and company cross-training.

Facilitate both instructor-led classroom and webinar training sessions as well as coordinate with third party training providers.

Perform needs assessments; collaborate with Leadership Team and Senior Management Team to identify performance gaps and design an appropriate solution.

Create surveys, assessments, and gather data to measure the value or impact of learning solutions and improvements.

Coordinate training schedules, registrations, resources, and communications; responsible for maintaining rosters, reports, and other records. Including internal and external training initiatives.

Develop project plans related to learning assignments; execute deliverables on time.

Responsible for Loan Operating System training to new hires.

Work closely with Bank Training department along with utilization of Bank internal training system, BVS.

Facilitate other assignments as designated by Executive management.



  • Background and proven successful track record in training.
  • An inherent passion and desire to innovate and teach others.
  • Strong listening, problem solving skills and out of-box thinking.
  • Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to create training material presentations.
  • 5 - 7 years mortgage industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and comfortable relationships with      employees, supervisors, and senior management.
  • Exceptional facilitation, presentation, and listening skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly proficient in time management, organization, planning and prioritization.
  • Proven initiative, positive attitude, team-oriented, self-motivated and highly      enthusiastic.
  • Familiar with new technology systems and paperless environment, demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment; demonstrated ability to provide good      customer service.
  • Ability to effectively interface with and influence employees/managers/leadership at all levels of the organization and across functional/geographical lines.
  • In depth experience with multiple approaches and technologies related to change, performance management, talent management and development initiatives.

Ability to think and plan strategically but execute and act on the tactical requirements needed.
