Residential Construction and Renovation Mortgage Director

Territory: Nashville, TN

The Residential Construction and Renovation Mortgage Director will develop and manage all processes, procedures, and policies related to Construction Perms, FHA 203k, and Homestyle loans that the bank sells into the secondary mortgage markets.

FirstBank currently originates 4+/- billion in residential mortgage loans and acquires 3 +/- billion in correspondent loans annually. The ideal candidate would develop and oversee construction perm and renovation products throughout existing mortgage channels.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  •  Knowledge and experience with construction, renovation, take out loans, and escrow holdbacks
  •  Knowledge of FHA’s 203k loan products, and Fannie Mae’s Homestyle Loan
  •  Identify internal staffing needs as well as appropriate vendors and/or partner
  •  Train and educate Loan Officers, and Wholesale customers to work with borrowers and contractors on all facets of the transaction.
  •  Convey information in understandable terms at all levels throughout the renovation and construction process.
  •  Act as liaison between contractor, borrower, and mortgage staff for contractor approval, project approval, draw schedules, draw requests, property inspections, etc.
  •  Receive and complete final paperwork, draw request, lien waivers and certificates of completion.
  •  Reconciles all funds with accounting.
  •  Set expectations, track and communicate results, and create environment for accountability.
  •  Convey information in understandable terms at all levels through the renovation and construction process.
  •  Maintain a professional image and adhere to standards consistent with bank policies.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  •  Candidate must be comfortable with developing a new initiative and managing it successfully and profitably.
  •  Minimum of 10 year’s mortgage experience, must have extensive new construction, renovation lending management experience.
  •  Able to handle complex priorities; and excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  •  College degree or industry equivalent required.
  •  Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  •  Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
