Senior Accountant

Territory: Nashville, TN

A successful senior accountant combines excellent analytical, research and organizational skills to provide support to the accounting/finance team. You will be responsible for accurately reconciling various general ledger accounts by the assigned deadlines. You will assist with accounting research as needed and will help review current processes for improvements in efficiency and effectiveness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reconciliations as assigned and ensure the timely resolution of reconciling items
  •  Assist with preparation of monthly/quarterly/annual reporting (e.g., consolidations and branch reporting)
  • Assist with preparation for audits and exams
  • Assist with preparation of the Call Report
  • Assists with daily cash management
  • Ensure policies/processes are documented, projects are prioritized and business objectives met
  • Assist with accounting research and implementation of new pronouncements
  •   Strong analytical abilities to resolve complex issues and provide resolution to bank staff, auditors and regulators. 
  • Collaborate with others across multiple departments and lines of business
  • Continuously analyze current business work flows and productivity/efficiency results in order to seek process improvements.
  • Assume responsibility for other related duties as required or assigned

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelorís degree in accounting/finance
  • 4 + years of banking operations/accounting experience
  • CPA preferred, but not required 

Language Skills

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and general public.

Reasoning Ability 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Skills and Abilities 

  • Must be accurate, flexible, organized and able to independently manage multiple priorities while meeting assigned deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and proficient in accounting software
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of bank employees
  • Excellent problem resolution and research skills
  • Reliability, flexibility, professional etiquette and sound judgment are important
