Business Continuity Manager

Territory: Nashville, TN

Incumbent is responsible for leading and overseeing the design, implementation and maintenance of FirstBank’s business continuity management infrastructure across all business line functions. Ensures efficiency and reliability are built into all business continuity management activities. Functional elements of this position include ownership of the business continuity platform and strategic documentation; development of business disruption response strategies; leadership in significant events response; oversight of plan maintenance and testing processes; execution of training and awareness activities; and interaction with various parties, both internal and external. This position also champions business continuity throughout the organization and serves as a member of FirstBank’s Emergency Management Committee and Business Continuity Oversight Group.

  

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide leadership and direction in the development and execution of FirstBank’s business continuity management strategy in alignment with FFIEC and other standards.

2. Serve as owner of business continuity management-related materials including business continuity policies and standards and FirstBank’s enterprise business continuity management system and plan.

3. Perform management and administration functions for the enterprise business continuity system.

4. Support business units in the identification of critical processes and functions, formulation of responses to business disruptions, completion of Business Impact Analysis (BIA) updates, and performance of ongoing Business Unit Action Plan (BUAP) maintenance and testing activities.

5. Perform periodic reviews of plan structure/format and update as needed to ensure alignment to changes in the business and threat environment.

6. Incorporate new business units, systems and processes into the business continuity program.

7. Perform proactive assessments of bank-wide and department-level strategies and processes to optimize efficiency and reliability in business continuity management practices.

8. Provide periodic reports on overall program status and effectiveness.

9. Provide leadership and guidance to business continuity managers within the business units.

10. Lead the development and implementation of an integrated testing strategy that incorporates people, processes and technology; and support business units in the performance of annual testing exercises and other processes designed to ensure the sustainability of business continuity management practices.

11. Design and execute FirstBank’s business continuity management awareness and training program.

12. Support IT Department disaster recovery planning and testing activities through: - supporting business units in the identification of data storage requirements, system recovery requirements, and alternative processing site requirements. - participating in annual disaster recovery tests to help ensure that business unit needs are met.

13. Lead organizational responses to business disruption events.

14. Oversee the performance of business disruption after-action reviews and the documentation of results. Analyze impact to determine if changes to current business continuity plans and/or processes are required.

15. Log business disruption events and tests and report results to management.

16. Serve as primary interface for audit and regulatory review activities and prepare responses to audit and exam findings related to business continuity. Track and drive the resolution of all corrective action activity.

17. Serve as FirstBank’s point of contact and representative to community, regional, industry and government emergency management and business continuity planning groups and agencies.

18. Manage business continuity-related vendor relationships.

19. Develop and coordinate FirstBank’s community/regional disaster response and relocation strategy.

20. Serve as FirstBank’s pandemic plan coordinator, maintaining all pandemic plan documentation and tracking regional and national events that may result in the declaration of a pandemic event.

21. Maintain awareness of current legislation, regulatory compliance requirements and conditions affecting the Bank’s business continuity-related responsibilities.

22. Maintain appropriate certifications throughout employment.

23. Perform other business continuity and risk management duties as assigned.

  

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in business continuity management.
  • Understanding of industry best practices and standards.
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Banking industry experience preferred.
  • Certified Business Continuity Planner (CBCP) or similar accreditation preferred.
  • Experience in managing a business continuity management program at the organizational level preferred.
  • Project management knowledge or experience a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of staff/management and third-parties.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools.
