Product Development Manager

Territory: Nashville, TN

Summary:

The Mortgage Product Manager will lead all aspects of product development for the mortgage division of FirstBank including new product development, product maintenance, competitor analysis, guideline management, coordination with origination channels and pricing teams on program guidelines and products. The individual will have a minimum of five years mortgage experience, with fluency in the mortgage industry from loan origination through to loan sale. In addition to mortgage experience this person should have exposure to product specifics including Fannie, Freddie, USDA, FHA, VA, and private investor labeled product offerings.  This person should be familiar with the differences of origination channels including Retail, Third Party, Correspondent, and Consumer Direct.    

  • Leading cross-functional teams consisting of operations, marketing and other key stakeholders to define, develop and implement products
  • Evangelizing product and becoming subject matter expert for internal audiences, external clients and market facing communications
  • Authoring, manage, and audit product manuals and FirstBank Seller Guides as applicable for each origination channel
  • Organizing product requirements and other enhancements into a cohesive product plan and communicating plan to organization and senior leadership
  • Managing product development timelines, production cycles and client implementation deadlines
  • Developing and tuning overall long-term product vision and strategy based on continual assessment of internal, market research, competitive and customer data
  • Provide sales support for product related/investor related functions
  • Lead monthly product committee; track and report product performance / use
  • Craft Secondary Marketing memo’s, announcements, etc.
  • Review investor guidelines, emails, newsflashes, announcements, and all updates to existing products; execute changes, internal announcements, and publish changes

Education and/or Experience

  • 5 + years’ experience in Mortgage
  • A four-year degree from an accredited university with a focus in English, Communications, Finance or related field of study is preferred
  • Experience with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, and USDA product guidelines
  • Strong presentation and communication skills (both oral and written)

Ability to effectively present complex information in a simple, logical, and brief manner and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and general public.

Must be able to actively and skillfully conceptualize, apply, analyze, and/or evaluate information gathered from, or generated by, observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication. Critical thinking will be displayed in all communication and decision forms to include clarity, accuracy, precision, consistency, relevance, sound evidence, good reasons, depth, and fairness. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be fluent in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
