Teller II

Territory: Chattanooga, TN

Summary:

Associate has the ability to perform tasks of the Teller 1 position in addition to those listed with the position of Teller 2 as follows:

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Competent to resolve difficult customer issues.
  • Routinely assists with administrative tasks associated with the teller function.
  • Answer basic customer inquiries regarding interest rates, service charges, and account histories while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations and consumer privacy policies.
  • Cross-sell bank products and services
  • Refer customers to the proper department for issues that cannot be resolved at the teller line.
  • Entering Holds or Stop Payments on the computer accurately.
  • Reporting and balancing of travelers checks or money orders sells to appropriate department/or company.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a high traffic area.
  • Ability to complete both Currency Transactions Report and Monetary Instrument Log with little or no supervision.
  • Removes deposits from, counts, and balances cash within the automated teller machines/night depositary.  If applicable at the assigned branch.
  • Initiate customer request to purchase foreign currency from via correspondent bank.
  • Submit foreign checks for collection or conversion of US Dollars.
  • Knowledge of various federal regulations ( Bank Secrecy Act, Community Reinvestment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Right to Financial  Privacy Act, Gramm-Leach-Briley Act, Regulation E) and teller roles and responsibilities relating to each act.

Customer Service

  • Display responsiveness to lobby traffic and customer needs and handle all levels of customer service to maximize customer service.
  • Ensure each customer is acknowledged in a friendly and helpful manner.
  • Provide prompt and accurate follow through on all customer inquiries, requests, and complaints.
  • Offer the customer an alternative if unable to satisfy a request.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills necessary to interact positively with both customers and staff members.

 

Sales and Referral Activities and Results

  • Achieve product referral goals as assigned.
  • Identify and pursue sales and crossing selling opportunities on a daily basis.
  • Contribute to branch promotions, sales meetings, and campaigns.
  • Refer customer to commercial lender or specialized sales team.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with various Operations groups.
  • Ensure that products are appropriate to the customer and that product features, benefits, and disclosures are communicated.

Education and /or Experience

High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one + years related banking experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills

Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.  The associate should also have the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization.

 

 

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

 

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Must also have the ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

 

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, and individual should have knowledge of Database software; Spreadsheet software; and Word Processing software.

In order for the associate to advance to the next level, the associate must have fully met all job requirements in the above plan.  The associate must demonstrate that they have gained knowledge exceeding their current job responsibilities and can perform duties listed in the next level.
